Boone National Guard Center

Purpose:

To evaluate how Boone National Guard Center can continue to implement changes at the facility to meet mission demand while the City of Frankfort, KY continues its residential and commercial growth. Boone National Guard Center serves as the headquarters for the Kentucky Army National Guard. The installation is located in central Franklin County in the City of Frankfort and consists of 655 acres. The Boone NGC property was annexed by the City of Franklin. Ongoing and future changes at the installation include (1) extension of the western portion of the runway, (2) relocation of the existing aviation facility to the western portion of the runway, (3) additional helicopter operations in FY 2008 and FY 2009, (4) purchase of buffers near the western portion of the installation, and (5) construction of a human resource office, joint headquarters facility, physical fitness building, and a running track. Current commercial and residential projects could conflict with the current flight corridor and the runway extension.
