Camp Rilea Training Center

To evaluate compatible use planning for residences and Camp Rilea. Camp Rilea is operated by the Oregon Army National Guard as a National Guard and training site. It encompasses over 1880 acres of state owned property, located in the Clatsop Plains in northwest Oregon. The Clatsop Plains has experienced significant growth, especially in the development of second homes, retirement residences, and commercial and recreational developments. Many undeveloped agricultural parcels adjacent to or near Camp Rilea have been subdivided for residential use in recent years. A JLUS could provide an opportunity to adopt compatible use planning doctrine to prevent new residences from adversely impacting the Camp Rilea mission effectiveness, particularly from proposed residential development adjacent to the installation on the northern, southern and eastern boundaries.
