Camp Roberts MTC

Purpose:

To evaluate community growth adjacent to Camp Roberts and potentially adopt planning doctrine to prevent residential and commercial growth from negatively impacting Camp Roberts. Camp Roberts is a California Army National Guard facility located in San Luis Obispo and Monterey Counties, adjacent to the unincorporated community of San Miguel. Camp Roberts mission is to train and mobilize National Guard, Army Reserve and Active component. SATCOM, an independent satellite communications facility situated in the middle of Camp Roberts, occupies 20 acres, and the Center for Interdisciplinary Remotely-Piloted Aircraft Studies (CIRPAS), part of the Naval Postgraduate School, owns and operates McMillan Airfield in the southwestern corner of Camp Roberts. Commercial and residential growth in northern San Luis Obispo County and competition for scarce water resources may impact Camp Roberts negatively. Continued development around Camp Roberts could be subject to helicopter and UAV overflights, canon fire, and training noise.
