Base Realignment

Realignment refers to the process that the Department of Defense uses to more efficiently and effectively support its forces, increase operational readiness, and facilitate new ways of doing business.

DoD realignment efforts include both drawdowns of personnel and equipment. While a base may not close completely, in the drawdown situation, communities must plan for personnel reductions and its impact on the community.

OEA works extensively with communities who are facing realignments in their military installations. The realignment process is typically part of the congressionally authorized process called BRAC, which stands for Base Realignment and Closure. For more information on how OEA can help, visit the Base Realignment and Closure home page.
