California: $6.8M delivers cybersecurity compliance across 6,000 Defense manufacturers

Program:

Industry Resilience

As a result of a $6.8M OEA Industry Resilience Investment (benefitting all services), the State of California is training small and mid-sized defense manufacturers in cybersecurity compliance under the NIST 800-171/DFAS 204.73 standard.  Partnering with the Defense Contract Management Agency and Defense Acquisition University-West, the state has provided training to more than 6,000 companies and completed outreach to another 28,000.  This project has been cited by DoD’s Chief Information Security Officer as the model for how the Department can take its “Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification” initiative to national scale.
