Camp Grayling & Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC): $711K to preserve fighter jet training

Military Installation Sustainability

Military Service:

As a result of a $711K OEA Compatible Use investment, the State of Michigan is partnering with Camp Grayling, the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to commission a bathymetric survey and ecologic analysis of the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary which are underway.  There are no current identifying notations on sectional charts limiting activities that can be potentially disruptive to marine life. The airspace over the sanctuary is used for high-speed, low-altitude fighter jet training.
